Including filter system and high-performance Tannins filter.
Tannins are natural organic compounds that can give water a yellow, amber or tea-like tint. In Modello, they often enter groundwater or well water as it moves through decaying plant material, peat, or certain soils. You might not always taste them, but tannins can produce an earthy or musty flavor and make tap water look unappetizing. Over time they can also leave stubborn stains on fixtures, laundry and appliances if left untreated.
Because tannins are dissolved organics, they usually won’t settle out like sand and can pass through simple cartridge filters. Modello homeowners commonly notice tannins when drinking glasses look tinted, white laundry takes on a yellow cast, or soap doesn’t rinse away the way it should. Tannins can also interact with iron to make discoloration and staining more pronounced. The best way to know if tannins are present is a water test, then choose treatment based on those results.
For whole-house tannin control, the most effective single-filter solution is an anion exchange system built for tannins. That system uses a specialized resin that attracts and holds negatively charged organic molecules, removing the color-causing compounds before water reaches your taps. Compared with standard carbon filters, anion exchange is generally better at clearing the dissolved, tea-colored tint tannins create. When installed at the main water entry for a Modello home, it protects plumbing, fixtures and everyday water use throughout the house.
An anion exchange tannin filter performs best when paired with proper prefiltration and correctly sized for household demand so it won’t clog or channel. Like a water softener, the resin requires periodic regeneration to flush captured organics and restore capacity. If your Modello water also shows iron, sulfur odors or sediment, treating those issues alongside tannins will help stop recurring stains and improve overall water clarity. Mr. Pure Water can recommend the right whole-house configuration after reviewing your water test and household usage.
