Including filter system and high-performance Trichloroethylene filter.
Trichloroethylene, commonly called TCE, is a synthetic solvent used in industrial degreasing that can migrate through soil into groundwater and drinking supplies. It can persist in the environment and often shows no noticeable taste or smell at low concentrations, so homeowners in Marathon Shores can’t rely on senses alone to spot it. The only way to know whether your water contains trichloroethylene is to have it tested.
When TCE is a concern, many Marathon Shores residents prefer treatment that protects the whole house instead of just a single fixture. Whole-house treatment covers showers, baths, teeth brushing, cooking and ice makers—important in coastal homes where humidity and salt air can already stress plumbing. Because trichloroethylene poses a risk through repeated exposure rather than an obvious nuisance, addressing it at the point of entry gives broader, consistent protection throughout your home.
A whole-house granular activated carbon (GAC) filter is the most effective single-filter choice for reducing trichloroethylene where water enters a Marathon Shores property. GAC removes many volatile organic compounds, including TCE, by adsorbing them as water flows through a deep bed of carbon. Effective removal depends on adequate contact time, so a correctly sized carbon media and flow design are essential for performance. Installed at the main line, this system treats water for every faucet and shower in the home.
A properly designed GAC whole-house system for Marathon Shores should match your household’s flow and water use so the media has sufficient contact time with the water. Carbon has a finite capacity and requires periodic replacement based on usage and testing, and in hard, coastal water it’s common to include pretreatment such as sediment filtration to prevent channeling or premature clogging. If trichloroethylene is your concern, Mr. Pure Water can help size and configure a whole-house carbon solution suited to your home in Marathon Shores and the Keys.
